Ms. Pelka began her musical journey as a guitarist in popular music, graduating from the Popular Music School of the Argentine Musicians’ Union (SADeM). In 2009, she ventured into composition and production, releasing her debut album El tiempo borrará, where she showcased her skills as a composer, vocalist, guitarist, and arranger.

Driven by her love for orchestral music, Valeria pursued a Bachelor’s degree in Composition at the National University of the Arts and an Associate Degree in Orchestral Conducting.

Her aim is to fuse elements of academic music with Argentine and global popular traditions—a pursuit reflected in the premieres of her works in the United States, Spain, Russia, and Argentina.

With over 35 years of experience in diverse popular music genres, Valeria seeks to bridge the gap between popular and academic music, composing pieces inspired by South American rhythms that push musical languages beyond traditional boundaries.

She studied with renowned teachers such as Fernando Albinarrate, Pablo Freiberg, Guillermo Pozzati, Guillermo Zalcman, Cecilia Pereyra, Gustavo Fontana, Rolando Budini, Diego Gardiner, Gian Piero Luque, Selva Ferrari, and Ariel Pirotti, among others.

Ms. Pelka has served as a jury member at the International Composition Competition “New Music” in St. Petersburg, Russia, and at the GSYO Emerging Composers’ Competition in Palo Alto, California.

She is also deeply committed to music education. What began over 30 years ago as a passion for teaching has evolved into an active online studio, where she guides students in composition, harmony, and orchestration throughout the Americas and Europe.

Her orchestral piece Dársena Sur was awarded at the 1st Provincial Competition of Works for Symphony Orchestra “Marta Lambertini” in 2023.

Valeria’s compositions offer orchestras and academic institutions opportunities for diverse programming, encouraging the exploration of new expressive forms and celebrating the cultural richness of the world.
